When John Sobieski III, King of Poland, crested the hill at the Siege of Vienna on September 12th, 1683, the massive Mohammedan army had no idea it was about to feel the weight of the largest combined calvary charge in history. Sobieski's mounted troopers were known as the "Winged Hussars", wearing iconic wing-like attachments to their armor/saddles as they engaged in battle. The Christians besieged inside the city of Vienna had given up hope. The Ottomans believed they were on the verge of opening a massive pathway into Western Christendom. God used the Winged Hussars to smash this invading force, and by it, potentially saved all of Christian Europe.
